KO

A KO (knockout) is a victory achieved when a fighter knocks down their opponent with a strike that renders them unconscious or unable to continue. It's the most spectacular and definitive outcome in the UFC, leaving no room for debate: the struck fighter is clearly defeated.

KO - UFC/MMA

In the UFC, the KO is the most thrilling result sought after by both fans and fighters. A knockout occurs when a strike (punch, kick, elbow, or knee) lands with enough force to cause a loss of consciousness or an evident inability to continue. The referee immediately intervenes to stop the fight and protect the defeated fighter. KOs can happen at any moment during the fight and can turn around situations that seemed already decided. The UFC rewards spectacular KOs with the Performance of the Night bonus. After a KO, the fighter is assessed by a physician and receives a mandatory medical suspension that prevents them from fighting and often training for a specified period, usually between 30 to 90 days, to safeguard their brain health.

KO

Conor McGregor's KO of José Aldo at UFC 194 in just 13 seconds is the most iconic in UFC history. A single left cross knocked out the undefeated featherweight champion, handing McGregor the title with the fastest KO in a UFC title fight.

KO & TKO

KO and TKO are similar but distinct outcomes. A KO occurs when the fighter loses consciousness or is clearly unable to continue after a strike. A TKO happens when the referee stops the fight because the fighter, while still conscious, cannot defend themselves intelligently. TKO.
